The Bay Horse Hotel

Went for food today. Haven't been in years Really really impressed. Small amount of meat, but ample everything else. Sponge was definitely made today and was incredibly light. Well presented, good selection of veg. I really can't complain.

It’s quite a few years since I stayed at The Bay Horse and I was amazed at the difference. It has changed hands since my last time and the whole feel of the place is great. The new people have put so much thought into the experience they want their guests to have. It was lovely to see that not only are dogs welcome, there is also a dog menu! There are umbrellas at the entrance for guests to use if they need to and blankets and cushions for guests’ comfort on the lovely deck outside. Tom clearly knows his stuff at the bar, taking great care in selecting drinks of quality. We had only booked here out of desperation as there was nowhere else with space locally at short notice. I’m so glad we did - it will be our first choice in future - highly recommend!

Just had Sunday Lunch here, called in passing through, was asked had we booked, we hadn't but they said we'll see what kitchen says..within 10 mins we were sitting eating a very top notch Sunday roast. Highly recommended...food was lovely cooked and hot. Thank you very much !

I recently stayed having made a group booking for four rooms. Booking was not plain sailing as I had to call on a day when Tom, the manager, was in. Once I was able to speak to Tom, he was very helpful in getting the rooms booked. They did not ask for a deposit, which was great in some ways but I was nervous the rooms may have not been reserved as I did not get any form of confirmation in writing. Fortunately all was fine when we arrived. Tom and his team were very accommodating. There was a good selection of beers available on draught (we particularly liked the Motorhead Road Crew beer, which unfortunately they ran out of). We sat up late by the warm coal burner and Tom kept the bar open for us as we were staying the night. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Furthermore they were all dog friendly if required. We opted to have a full English breakfast at a very reasonable extra cost. It was definitely well worth it. I'd recommend staying if looking for somewhere in the area.

A few of us were visiting the area and stayed at the Bay Horse Hotel. What a lovely place. The staff were extremely friendly and kept the bar open until very late for us. We had dogs with us and they were so dog friendly. The rooms were very comfy and well laid out (plenty of mirrors in ours) with a spacious bathroom. It even had a coffee machine. We all had the excellent full english breakfast - cooked to perfection. The dogs even had their own little plate of sausages brought out. A real gem of a place and Tom and his staff go above and beyond

Had Sunday lunch today have to say best one yet really upped the game looking forward to the next one server Alex lovely and polite couldn't do enough for us no desert for gluten free but he suggested another glass of wine instead spot on !! X

Been in 3 times for food on holiday. Lovely food and staff. So welcoming and friendly. Even loved our Rascal ( dog loves pubs just goes to sleep) Super dog friendly, homemade food. Good sized portions. Excellent value.

Had Sunday lunch and really enjoyed it. The menu only offered Sunday lunch with a choice of lamb, beef or gammon. Great that you can order a small or large portion. Puddings were great too, with a selection of the old favs as well as some modern. I wasn't a fan of the limoncello accompanying the lemon ice cream. It tasted like Pernod. Overall I recommend this place as a good place to eat and would come again. Dog friendly!
